Lake Jocassee, You Nasty!

It’s not at all, actually. And before you get your swimsuit in a bunch—you try rhyming Jocassee with something!

(See? Not as easy as it sounds.)

In reality, Lake Jocassee is a stunning lake with clear, clean water. This isn’t a travel blog, so I’m not going to tell you how it got so clear or how big it is (this will tell you better than I can, anyhow), but I will tell you—more like show you—what a perfect summer day on the lake looks like.

It looks like a mostly sunny sky with beautiful boats and a mountain view that makes you think you’re in Lake Como.

It looks like finding a warm rock to perch on with a good book.

It looks like frizzy lake hair that dries quickly without any hair products—or worries.

It looks like baseball caps, linen cover ups, boat totes, and books with water spots on the edges.

It looks like being captured in a moment of joy—and being the one to capture one for someone else, too.

It looks like sunburn, splashes, and sand in places you’d rather not have.

And it looks like ice cream after a long, delicious day spent under the golden sun.
